Emma Language Teacher ("the Bot") is a WhatsApp assistant that helps users practice language skills through conversation. This privacy policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and how long we keep it.

Data We Collect

The Bot collects and stores the following data:

• Your phone number (to identify your account and respond to messages)
• Your recent conversation messages (last 20 messages)
• Learning preferences (language level, native language, target language, daily prompt frequency)
• Progress data (message count, streak, quiz scores, voice note counts)

How We Use Your Data

Your data is used to:

• Generate personalized AI responses adapted to your language level
• Track your learning progress and maintain streaks
• Provide quiz questions and conversation prompts at the right difficulty
• Transcribe and respond to voice messages

Your data is stored in a secure database (Vercel KV) and is not sold or shared with third parties beyond the service providers listed below.

Data Retention

Your data is automatically deleted after 90 days of inactivity. You can also request immediate deletion at any time (see below).

Third-Party Services

The Bot uses the following services to function. Your data is processed by these providers according to their respective privacy policies:

• WhatsApp Business API (Meta) — messaging platform
• Claude AI (Anthropic) — generating conversational responses
• OpenAI — voice transcription (Whisper) and text-to-speech
• Vercel — hosting and database storage
